报告摘要:

Man-made multi-robot systems have been advancing apace with the help of high-performance hardware and computational technologies. Despite the high-performance computing, communication, sensing, and power devices used in these systems, their effectiveness in uncertain environments appears to still fall behind the natural systems such as a swarm of ants, a flock of birds, or a team of wolves. One of the challenges in multi-robot coordination is the lack of effective distributed algorithms and designs that enable the robots to work cooperatively and safely in uncertain environments.

This talk will present the state of the art and some recent research results on distributed algorithms and coordination control methods for cooperative multi-robot systems. The research on this topic has a wide range of potential engineering applications, including surveillance and search, smart manufacturing, smart logistics, environment monitoring, and unmanned exploration of dangerous areas.

报告人简介:

Prof. Guoqiang Hu joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2011, and is currently a Tenured Associate Professor, the Director of the Centre for System Intelligence and Efficiency (EXQUISITUS), and the Assistant Chair (Research) of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He was an Assistant Professor at Kansas State University, Manhattan KS, USA, from 2008 to 2011. He received the B.Eng. degree in Automation from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2002, the M.Phil. degree in Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2004, and the Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida in 2007.

His research focuses on analysis, control, design and optimization of distributed intelligent systems, with applications to cooperative robotics and smart city systems. He has published 77 journal papers including 47 IEEE Transactions papers and 9 Automatica papers, with SCI citation about 2000 times and SCI H-index 23. He was a recipient of the Best Paper in Automation Award in the 14th IEEE International Conference on Information and Automation, and a recipient of the Best Paper Award (Guan Zhao-Zhi Award) in the 36th Chinese Control Conference.

He serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, Technical Editor for IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, and Subject Editor for International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control. He serves as General Chair for the 15thInternational Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV 2018), General Chair for the 16thInternational Conference on Control and Automation (IEEE ICCA 2020), Program Co-Chair for IEEE IECON 2020, and General Chair for International Symposium on Autonomous Systems (ISAS) 2022.
